Accounting, Budgeting and Financing for a Sustainable Cooperative in Your Community
This session covers the 3 basic financial statements all companies have and how they relate to each other. Using in class examples we will build sample proforma financial statements and talk about the slightly different terminology used in the coopertive business world.
The objectives of this workshop include:
- To understand the fundamentals necessary to create a start-up budget for a cooperative business
- To become familiar with the elements of a solid cooperative business plan
- To be aware of multiple sources for start-up funds in the cooperative and small business arenas.
- To know about the concept of patronage as critical part of cooperative accounting
Participants will have the opportunity to begin a start-up budget for their cooperative dream and acquire the basic tools and support to begin writing a business plan.
